What do you get when you mix two borrowed boats, one broken trailer, ten V15s on the line, and clean starts? A great regatta!
The MBYC Summer Crawl was a fantastic success!
Bridget Shear and her crew found themselves in 1st place at the end of the day one. The 8 - 10 knot breeze and triangle course proved ideal for Bridget and her crew. Also in the hunt were Mike Uznis, Adam Deermount, and Jason Artof. Afterwards, the competitors enjoyed snacks and drinks while finalizing plans for the nights activities.
Day two came in with a 10 - 12 knot breeze and a bunch of tired bodies. Perfect conditions for the Vanguards! Mike Uznis came alive and scored a 3rd and a 1st to take overall honors. In a heated battle for the next position, Adam Deermount scored 2nd overall while Jason Artof took 3rd. After the awards ceremony, the fleet shared thoughts on strategies, tactics, and rig setups that work well over the weekend. A great exchange of ideas that will help all of us get better.
Many thanks to all the competitors for making this a truly great event. A special thanks to the MBYC RC for an excellent job setting up the course and running the races, and to Julie Semmelhack for making everyone feel welcome with the great post race snacks. |
